The initial client for the Locassa service is available on iPhone but we will be closely following this with support for Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.
The feature list below describes the current iPhone version, click each of the feature boxes to view that particular feature list.
The Map
The map view is the main view within Locassa, it provides a view of your current location and shows you the things that are around you. Items are colour coded based on their popularity and the type of icon denotes the type of item. (see Item Types box on the right)
Locassa can contain a lot of items, so where lots of things on the map overlap we allow you to explode them to make selection easier. Simply tap a cluster of items to explode them and then tap the item you want to view the detail of, or use the paging buttons to show more pages.
Searching and Filtering
You can search for the things and places you are interested in by using the Locassa search bar at the top of the screen. Enter your required search term and distance radius and your results are returned grouped by the type of match and in distance order (nearest to you at the top).
The filter screen allows you to create, save and load preset filters for common situations. Create filters based on rating, specific item types and include and / or exclude certain keywords. Locassa shows you a live preview of the map as you change the filter and you can save them for loading any time you want.

View Items
Tapping on an item brings up the item detail screen where you can view more information on the item. On this screen you can see the item image and description (if added), the rating, any associated tags, any comments and other images added to the item as well as items that have been linked to this one.
Tapping the menu bar at the bottom of the detail page brings up the item menu. From here you can rate and tag items, add comments, images and link items together. If you own the item you can remove it, and for other peoples items you can report them if they are inaccurate or contain offensive content.
Create Your Own Items
You can add your own items to Locassa, whether you wish to add a photo, a comment some information or a business. The first step in adding your item is to choose the type of item you wish to add, this will decide what type of icon will be shown on the map; simply tapping an icon takes you to the add item detail screen.
Once you have chosen the type of item you are ready to enter the details, so choose a name, a location and depending on item type, a photo, a description or both. You can choose to make certain items private so only people in your community list can see them.

Community List
Your community list is where you keep all of your favourite things for quick access. Think of your community list as a kind of 'friends' list but where it is not just limited to people. Put your friends in it by all means, but also your favourite restaurants, comments, photos etc.
The community detail screen allows you to get to the item easily (regardless of where it is), as well as set up which events you wish to be notified about relating to the item. You can get notified of detail, location and start / end date changes as well as when you are within a certain distance of the item!
Notifications
The notifications screen is where your notifications are shown. You receive notifications on items you own as well as any community items you have requested notifications for. Notifications are grouped by type and the number next to a notification indicates the number of times that event has happened for the item.
Each notification has an alternate panel which is exposed by tapping it. The options available depend on the type of notification but for most types you can show the item detail or delete the notification. Other notification types such as community requests allow you to accept or reject the request.

Time Step
Time Step mode allows you to go backwards or forwards in time to view which items were available on the map at that specific date / time. Time step has two setting modes, time and date. In time mode the face is blue and the clock hands work as expected, to change the time simply drag the hands.
In date mode, the Time Step clock allows you to set the date by using the small hand to change the month and the large hand to change the day. By using the time and date combination you can quickly set the required time, so now you can see what was going on last week or what's coming up next month!
